Geraldine Martinez-Benz

Geraldine Martinez-Benz is a children's book designer, fine artist, graphic designer, wife, and mother. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the University of the Philippines-Cebu. Passionate about sharing her love for the visual arts, she has led summer art workshops in the Philippines and for Filipino-American children at the Philippine Consulate in Chicago. A native of Ormoc City, she has also worked with street and indigent children through partnerships with the local DSWD and World Vision chapters, believing that art should be accessible to all.

As a graphic designer, Geraldine has worked in Manila, Cebu, Shenzhen, and Chicago, bringing her creative expertise to diverse professional settings. As a visual artist, she has exhibited her work in the Philippines, Chicago, and Evanston, showcasing her deep connection to both her heritage and her artistic vision.

In 2021, she founded Sinag, a Filipino-American art collective in Chicago, which has grown to 70 members. Through Sinag, she organized the largest exhibit of Filipino-American artists in the Chicago area in 2024. Her dedication to artistic community-building continues, and she was recently accepted into the prestigious artist residency at Château d’Orquevaux, France.
